Sometimes an imaginary window will do/when there appears no way forward/a finely sketched imaginary window trimmed with flowers/swings in your heart/open/lets dreams in and out/nightmares travel on its hinge/sends the possibility of salvation on the wing

Children remember incandescent joy/though may forget as time steals laughter/the hedge we build around them/the hedge of prayer/the hedge of care/may that fierce hedge be infused with memories of carefree joy/these fortifications against the careening juggernaut of ordinary sorrow

For every baby born/a tree was sent home to be planted/until the fragrant air sang lavender/the carpeted streets sang joy for every birth

Solid ancient wonder/safe in each others arms/we circle life/we honor creation/we are pleased to celebrate how small we really are

The time of leading processions/of hoped for futures/ cyclical/yet never the same/the winding stream a river/generations stand/the young arise/the old bear witness/the mighty stream rolls on/see/we are made of starlight/your light is of that tribe

I sense the advent of summer/with adventures in the wind/feasting and fellowship/some new roads/untraveled/replete with sun drenched buttery memories

Intricate weavings/habits are repetitions/patterns are instructions/we send our lives/our health/we may follow oblivious/or feel every minute maneuver/every small revolution/like on a now forgotten/ once familiar journey home

Places of prayer breathe books/places of books define lives and delimit immortality/there can be no joy without wisdom/you won’t find her in sundry temples grand/but in the simple temple of your soul/she will arise

We felt the urgent call of creation/even then/we worked for the prize/for the joy/ we saw each other shine/without question/without pain/ it never occurred to us to question/our bright futures/to mourn impossible dreams/we were young/gifted/ and free
