I drove

I laughed with friends

at work

green beans

chili

and pie

later I arrived safely at my destination

it would have been a good day

except for the massacre

the daily murders

the media news cycle

feasting

the platitudes and attitudes

it would have been a good day if I was totally immune

immunity is partial

immunity is making me

and us

deathly ill

trapped in a nightmare
