How We Live Now

What if?

drives me

not to drink

to brood

to fume

to anticipate

failure

exhaustion

sorrow

the automatic negatives

eclipse the positives

through no fault

i find a no-fault faith answer

through no fault

faith

i learn that

no one was ever to blame exactly

when I was taught fear and shame

by being frightened and shamed

it was inadvertent

was a by product of being busy

frightened in their own right

overwhelmed

when my little fragile light was told to

hide

censor

and existential fear said

gotcha

but my no-fault faith

better than any insurance you can buy

get out of jail for free card

perpetual

perennial

pleasingly invites

to a life of lightness after the harshest

voice is sent on an all expense

tropical vacation

all inclusive

have a nice time

I sure will

be kind

that’s how we live

now

be kind

Through the Storm

Sometimes it is necessary to just/

set your face to the frontward gaze/

move through the storm/

tempted to turn back/

twisted with stress and concentration/

the only way ahead/

is ahead/

upon arrival/

the answer is/

rest

Where Do We see You

Where Do We see You

This Light Sculpture: Expansions by Paige Bradley
Where do we see you/
breaking into our world today/
bringing light/
for our confusion/
Our warring madness/
Do we turn you away/
Or do we risk/
another change event/
by letting you seep your light/
into our despairing/
merciless preoccupations/
we are like frightened/
lost/
children/
as you once were/
guide us/
to your light/
in us/

Calling Us Home

FB_IMG_1444582045940

Sometimes the contrast of life and death

Evil and good

Defies imagining

burrows deeply

Becomes a primary pain predicament

A chronic illness of despair

I have seen and been

to the trapped and nullified stasis chamber

life becomes

anger turned inward and trapped

paralyzed

Yet this I recollect

and reel back to mind

God’s healing is hard wired into us

at the sub-cellular level

at the speed faster than thought

the speed of feeling

we are healed

forgiven

set free

to create beauty again

and

weep

for the nullified

trapped

world we are become

free to reel some hope into every closed

and bitter room we stagger through

that healing

invisible as the air we breathe

though we reject and decimate her

possibilities

has already called us home

Dream Fuel

Little ones/
You may dream them/
and must/
but do not live in your dreams/
nor bitterly rue the day/
nor frighten for the night/
some sliver of light will be there to follow/
some arms to help you waken/
and sleep peacefully again/
just realize/
dreams fuel/
your journey/
for which you must arise
